According to a report jointly published by Niko Partners and the Saudi Esports Federation, the region now boasts 33.7 million players, contributing a remarkable $2.24 billion in revenue.
Regional Breakdown and Growth Projections
Saudi Arabia leads the GCC gaming market, making up 49.5% of the total revenue and 61.7% of the player base. The UAE follows closely, with these two countries together accounting for nearly 80% of all gaming revenue in the region.
Future projections indicate substantial growth, with the gaming market expected to reach $3.24 billion by 2028 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.7%. The number of players is also forecasted to grow annually by 2.9%, reaching 38.9 million by 2028. The average revenue per user (ARPU) is set to climb from $66.34 in 2023 to $83.30 in 2028.

Player Demographics and Preferences
The GCC gaming audience predominantly comprises young males, with 69% identifying as male and 62.3% under the age of 34. Mobile gaming dominates the landscape, engaging 91.7% of players, followed by PC (61.9%) and console gaming (55.3%). Emerging platforms, including smart TVs (24.6%) and virtual reality (10.1%), are gaining traction.

In terms of gaming genres, sports, fighting, and action games top the charts, resonating with 57.9%, 53.8%, and 53% of players, respectively. Free-to-play (F2P) games are particularly popular, with 83.6% of respondents favoring this model.

The report highlights that 75% of gamers in the region value Arab cultural representation in games.

The survey reveals varying income levels among GCC gamers. While 56.6% earn less than $30,000 annually, a smaller group (9.4%) earns over $100,000. These income disparities influence purchasing habits, with credit cards (61.2%) being the most common payment method, followed by digital wallets (54.5%), debit cards (53.6%), and gift cards (41.7%).
